bustards and bee-eaters

7-14 July 2007 – Portugal

Based in the National Park of Alentejo this trip is a real bird and wild flower viewing fest. Bee-eaters, Azure Winged Magpies, Hoopoes, Black Winged Kites and both Great and Little Bustards could all be spotted on this trip.

Rich wetlands host Marsh Harriers, Great White Herons, Glossy Ibis, Black-winged Stilts and Flamingos. In the valley of the river Torgal basking terrapins and butterflies abound while treks in the arid hills above, through aromatic vegetation, will afford stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

This tour will offer excursions to Stone Pine and Cork Oak forests, Moorish forts and the navigation school museum at Cape St Vincent. Our guest house in Casa Da Eira offers swimming and early evening walking opportunities in the national park.

Cost excluding flights and insurance - £635
