Green lizards, blue winged grasshoppers, European beavers, white storks, map and swallow tail butterflies are amongst a host of unusual species to be encountered in the richly diverse landscapes of Brittany.
This tour will be based in the small hamlet of Talroch in a property built in 1622. A visit to the ancient salt pans of the Sene marshes in the gulf of Morbihan will offer viewing opportunities of avocets, black winged stilts, marsh harriers and fan-tailed warblers.
A trip to Pont Aven a favourite haunt of Guaguin and now a centre for contemporary art will also incorporate a visit to the bat museum in Kernascladen where a substantial colony of Greater Horseshoe bats inhabit the local church.
One of the highlights of the week is a punt tour through the 190,000 hectare of the Grand briere marsh which harbours a rich diversity of birds, butterflies and mammals. Marsh harriers, White storks, Black storks, Spoonbills, Little, Cattle and Greater Egrets, Night herons, Purple herons and coypu.
